It’s time for some rock news comin’ at ya fast and furious! This episode: A rock n roll ponzi scheme; Chuck Berry is reunited with a stolen guitar; Fiona Apple spends night in jail and STP piss off Canadian fans.

When you think ponzi scheme, you usually think.. wall street business dude. But this time, LA based UK guitarist Marino De Silva faces up to 8 years in prison for scamming investors out of millions. De Silva told investors he had unreleased tracks by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Carlos Santana and the Stones. He also claimed to be a famous producer and said he was gonna remaster and release the unreleased tracks in his possession. He also claimed to be a Grammy winner, a close friend of Keith Richards and a producer of charity records… except he never actually gave the money he raised to charity.
Apparently he took people for millions using his Angels on Earth Foundation as a front.
So how was it a ponzi scheme? De Silva kept moving the money around, giving investors tiny portions owed to them all the while.. spending the rest of the cashola.
Oh he did deliver recordings but they weren’t the promised unreleased tracks by famous artists but were instead poor quality covers recorded by De Silva himself.

Chuck Berry has been reunited with a priceless guitar that was stolen from his home. Chuck was robbed three times in the last week and the police finally caught the thieves on their third attempt and the officers found the guitar in one of the suspects homes.

American Idol have finally chosen their new judges to replace Steven Tyler and J Lo… Rapper Nicki Minaj and Country star, Keith Urban.

Stone Temple Pilots have pissed off fans in Canada after appearing late for a show and then playing a super short set and then… canceling the following night’s performance… all without an explanation. Scott Weiland and company left fans waiting for 105 minutes in Abbotsford BC and several fans simply gave up and left. A statement went out basically saying that Scott Weiland was put on 48 hours vocal rest.

Lookin’ for short and snappy rock news? Welcome to Rock n Roll TV! This episode: Cheap Trick record without drummer Bun E. Carlos; Vince Neil busts his foot; Pete Townshend has book; and Mike Peters of the Alarm hoax story goes to film.

Cheap Trick have recorded a new song for the upcoming charity album, ” A Special Christmas – 25 Years” which will benefit the Special Olympics. That’s all well and good but what’s weird is that Cheap trick drummer Bun E Carlos says he wasn’t invited by the band to participate in the recording. The drummer isn’t sure what type of action if any he’ll take against the group. Rick Neilson’s son Daxx has been filling in for Carlos while he has insisted he is still a full member of the band but has not been touring with them for a couple of years now.

Motley Crue singer Vince Neil broke his left foot during a gig recently. Apparently he tripped on stage but still managed to finish the show. X-rays revealed that he’d broken two bones in his foot which is now in a cast and Vince is on crutches.

Greenday frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to hospital last week due to severe dehydration but is now doing fine. The band are planning a small venue tour for this fall.

Aerosmith has set November 6 as the official release date for their new album, Music From Another Dimension. This will be their first studio album of all new material in 11 years. Armed police stormed Miley Cyrus’s house in Los Angeles after receiving an emergency call about a possible kidnapping and shooting. LA police and rescue crews surrounded the star’s house and soon discovered there was no one in the building. Police say the incident may have been part of a new trend of prank calls dubbed “swatting” where an anonymous call is made to get a team of police to storm a building or an innocent person’s home.

Lollapalooza has announced it will hold a festival in Tel Aviv, Israel in August 2013!They promise 50 artists performing over three days in Yarkon Park. Festival founder Perry Farrell expressed gratitude that Lolla is expanding its reach and said that it would start in Tel Aviv but may do something in Jerusalem, too. Wanna get your rock news fast and furious? Welcome to Rock n Roll TV! Today – The Who tour Quadrophenia but there’s a special offer in Rhode Island; Live sue their singer; Lily Allen is pregnant again; and Flea releases ep for charity.

The Who have announced a major North American arena tour for the fall and the band featuring founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will perform their iconic 1973 double album Quadrophenia in its entirety along with some Who classics. The final date is in Rhode Island next February and they have offered to honor tickets to the 1979 show that was cancelled. So the question is… do you wanna hang to your Quadrophenia ticket and sell it on ebay in another ten years or use to go see the band now?

Three original members of 90′s band, Live are suing the fourth member, singer Ed Kowalcyzk for $2 million. They claim they were forced to go on hiatus in 2009 as the only way to get rid of the vocalist. They claim that he had signed himself up as the sole recipient of the band’s publishing income in a hidden contract that was signed in 2005.

The keyboard player and co founder of Deep Purple, Jon Lord died at the age of 71.

Flea has announced on Twitter that he is releasing a solo EP called Helen Burns with all the money raised from the release going to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non profit music education organization co-founded by Flea. He adds that the tracks will be obscure, arty and mostly instrumental but at least one of the songs will have Patti Smith on vocals.

The Stones… 50 years … will they tour or won’t they? At a recent London exhibition of photographs taken throughout the Stones career… Mick said yes, they would start playing live shows this fall. Keith was a bit more tight lipped about it saying that his lips were sealed. Meanwhile.. the band have been rehearsing in New York and were joined there by former bassist, Bill Wyman.

The Boss and Macca aka Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney had the plug pulled on them in London’s Hyde Park. There they were rocking’ out together… I saw Her Standing There and Twist and Shout… and somebody … somewhere decided that three hours was enough and bosh… that was it. They couldn’t even say thank you to the audience. Unreal.

Want bite sized rock news? Rock n Roll TV is for you! This episode – Cult frontman Ian Astbury describes the band bus crash; Diamond David Lee Roth talks Super Bowl; Lily Allen returns and Mick Brown and his golf cart madness!

The Cult’s frontman Ian Astbury was injured when the band’s tour bus crashed earlier this week. They were on tour in Europe traveling from Croatia to Slovenia. It was around 6 am and Ian and the driver were the only ones awake. The bus veered violently, hit a guard rail and tipped on a 45 degree angle… then righted itself and came to a halt. The rest of the band were sound asleep in their bunks while Ian was thrown in to the aisle and sustained injuries to his neck back and shoulder. He says the guard rail was the only thing that prevented them from going over an 80 foot drop.

David Lee Roth the illustrious frontman for Van Halen has addressed the now viral rumors that Van Halen would be playing the Super Bowl next year. He said… “Be still my pigskin heart. That honor has not been bestowed upon us at this time though it is one we would accept in a NY minute.”

Ted Nugent’s drummer, Mick Brown is facing several charges after police in Bangor Maine say he was driving drunk in a golf cart stolen from a concert venue. And … there were also two females on board the cart at the time. Officers say Mick was intoxicated, had stolen the cart and was driving it recklessly on a foot path.
